VIVE NETWORK PRESENTS CES BOXING
FEBRUARY 23, 2019 - 9PM EST
DISCLAIMER

Ladies and Gentlemen,

VIVE Network is proud to televise the first UHD HDR live sport trial delivered OTT*.

*Via connected devices rather than via cable or satellite.

We have selected the HLG format for the inaugural transmission, as it is already widely used for broadcast applications around the world, as well as in the US. HLG was also tested recently by BBC for the FIFAC'18 World cup in the UK on a very broad variety of UHD HDR TV sets.

In the future we will add other popular HDR formats such as HDR10 and Dolby Vision to address more devices. However, UHD TV viewers will be able to enjoy the broadcast in Ultra HD regardless of which HDR format their device supports.

HDR reproduction requires 2 things: (1) support of a decoding device (either a STB*/sup> or TV) and (2) on the display side though TV. * STB denotes set top box.

For this broadcast, VIVE Network is sending UHD in HDR (HLG) and HD in SDR * to address the maximum number of devices. * SDR denotes standard dynamic range.

Below is a list of decoding devices we have tested for support of HLG:
